Who knew the old adage, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” would relate to fundraising and the Max Cure Foundation??? In this case, the apple is the very talented daughter of one of our board members……
We are beyond excited to share news about Dillon Kab, a senior at The Ross School in East Hampton and the daughter of Vyto Kab, MCF board member, and her new company. Dillon has started Connecs LLC, a company that creates programs for nonprofit organizations to help fundraise. Her first program, TIES FOR A CURE, will benefit The Max Cure Foundation.
Connecs is a company that will sell donated merchandise (ties, in this case) with the goal of benefiting charities that are important to Dillon. Money raised from TIES FOR A CURE will be used to fund pediatric cancer research and to provide financial support for low-income and military families with a child battling cancer. All families benefiting are part of the Roar Beyond Barriers at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital in Stony Brook, Long Island.
The ties will retail for $40 and 85% of the gross revenue, $34, will be donated to the Max Cure Foundation to benefit families in the Roar Beyond Barriers program at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital. Ties are 100% silk and are available in 4 styles.
Reflecting on why she started Connecs, Dillon is quick to answer, “Growing up with two parents who are entrepreneurs I find the business world fascinating, exciting, and inviting. I decided to start my first company in support of a worthy cause and I wanted to contribute and make a difference with my work. My family has been involved with charitable organizations and I felt compelled to combine my business skills with some of the charities that are close to my heart.”
The ties can be purchased in two stores in Southampton: Therapy (38 Main Street) in Southampton and 27 Hampton Salon (27 Hampton Road) in Southampton, or online: www.tiesforacure.com or www.maxcurefoundation.org. Additionally, Dillon will be selling ties at:
Dillon started Connecs, LLC as her senior project and plans to continue with the business after graduation. She has been Student Government Class President throughout high school, is a varsity volleyball player, and has played soccer for LIJSL club for 13 seasons. She is also a model for IMG and lives with her parents, Vyto, a former NFL player, and her mother Patricia in Southampton.
Dillon hopes to expand TIES FOR A CURE across the east end of Long Island into local stores. She also hopes to expand Connecs with new programs and products to help other nonprofits. Please go to www.connecs.net to contact Dillon, for more information, or to donate. We think we have a future board member in the making!!
